Douglas County Libraries (DCL) is going places this summer! The library is taking its summer reading program on the road to favorite community locales, offering cool treats and fun giveaways for Douglas County residents.
“We are meeting great people out in our community, and we keep hearing stories about their summer adventures and how they use our libraries,” said DCL Special Events Coordinator Kristen Kallio.
Stops on the Great Summer Reading Road Trip have included Discovery Park and Downhill Brewing in Parker, Butterfield Park in Castle Rock, Civic Green Park in Highlands Ranch, and Roxborough Skate Park & Playground. The Great Summer Reading Road Trip goes through July 31. Readers of all ages still have time to sign up for the reading program and help the library reach its community goal of 16,775 registered readers. Once that goal is met, the DCL Foundation will donate $500 to Nature’s Educators, a top-rated nonprofit educational wildlife organization in Douglas County.
Devin Jaffe, Executive Director of Nature’s Educators, said the Foundation donation would be used to expand the organization’s animal enrichment collection—rope swings, training items, foraging activities, and more—for use in their wildlife enclosures.
